The fine print
Booking, voucher and order terms
Written in plain English. Last updated 12 October 2026.
Table bookings
- You can book up to 60 days ahead. Tables of up to seven pay nothing to book and nothing to cancel.
- We hold your table for 15 minutes after the booking time. If you are running late, please call us and we will do our best to keep it.
- You may cancel any booking at any time, as section 17 of the Consumer Protection Act allows.
Deposits for larger tables and events
- Tables of eight or more pay a deposit of R200 a person, which comes off the bill on the night.
- If you cancel at least 48 hours before the booking, the deposit is refunded in full. With less notice, we keep only a reasonable amount, taking into account how much notice you gave and whether we could fill the table, as the Consumer Protection Act requires.
- Private events have their own deposit, set out in the quote. The same rule applies: we keep only what we reasonably could not recover.
- There is no cancellation charge at all if the person the booking was made for has died or been hospitalised.
Gift vouchers
- A voucher is valid for three years from the day it is issued, or until its full value has been used, whichever comes first, as section 63 of the Consumer Protection Act requires.
- Vouchers can be used for food, drinks and pots to go, over one visit or several. The balance stays on the voucher.
- Experience vouchers are for the experience described. If its price goes up, the voucher still covers it.
- Vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash. Please treat them like cash: we can replace a lost voucher only if you have the voucher code.
Pots to go
- Orders need a day's notice, by 17:00 the day before collection. We confirm every order on WhatsApp before we start cooking.
- Each pot carries a R150 deposit, refunded in full when the pot comes back clean and undamaged.
- Pay on collection by card or cash.
Prices, service and alcohol
- All prices include VAT.
- A 10% service charge is added for tables of eight or more and for private events. It goes to the whole team.
- Alcohol is not sold to persons under the age of 18. Please drink responsibly.
- Corkage is R80 a bottle, with a limit of two bottles a table.
Allergies
- Our kitchen handles nuts, gluten, dairy, eggs, fish and shellfish. Tell us about any allergy when you book and again when you order.
- We will tell you exactly what is in each dish, but because we cook everything over one fire in one kitchen, we cannot promise any dish is free of traces.
